Hartford asset management company Phoenix Investment Partners will be re-named Virtus Investment Partners after its previously announced spin-off from The Phoenix Cos.

"Virtus” is a Latin word meaning integrity, quality and strength - virtues the newly re-branded company said it will provide to its clients.

The company will re-brand its PhoenixFunds family of mutual funds as Virtus Mutual Funds, subject to the approval of the trustees and directors of the mutual fund board. New logos will accompany both the Virtus Investment Partners and Virtus Mutual Funds names, the company said.

Virtus will keep its headquarters in Hartford and is finalizing lease negotiations, according to The Phoenix Cos.
