Hartford health insurance giant Aetna has reported net income of $480.5 million for the second quarter, up 6 percent from the second quarter of 2007.

Last year, the company reported second quarter net income of $451.3 million.

Through June 30, Aetna brought in net income of $912.1 million, up 3 percent compared to net income of $885.9 million for the same period last year.
