A 60-year-old Stamford man has pleaded guilty to threatening employees of an international bank he blamed for his investment losses.
Stephen Montalvo pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in Bridgeport to one count of threatening to kill or injure workers and managers of an HSBC Bank branch in Stamford.
Prosecutors say he left messages last September threatening to blow up the branch or come in with a gun after losing $60,000 to $70,000 on his $1.2 million investment account.
He also allegedly said in the messages that he hoped the bank's workers would die of cancer.
Authorities say Montalvo faces up to 10 years in prison and fines up to $250,000 when he is sentenced April 17. (AP)
