Stamford insurance holding company Odyssey Re Holdings Corp. reported net income of $123.2 million in the third quarter, up almost 8 percent compared to the same quarter last year.

In the third quarter of 2007, the company reported net income of $114.2 million. Through Sept. 30, the company reported net income of $441.1 million, up more than 25 percent compared to $350 million in the same period last year.

The results for the third quarter included combined losses from Hurricanes Ike and Gustav of $78 million, the company said.
