Hingham Institution for Savings reported a  30 percent jump in net income for the second quarter compared to the same period last year.

Net income for the second quarter was $1.42 million, or [Article].67 per share, compared to net income of $1.09 million, or [Article].51 per share, last year.

Assets as of June 30 were $778.4 million, a 9.7 percent increase over June 30, 2007.
