Florida-based BauerFinancial has given two Lowell banks a ranking of two stars or less in the latest analysis of statewide financial institutions' first-quarter performances.
Butler Bank and Lowell Co-Operative Bank, both of Lowell, received two-star and one-star rankings, respectively, from the analysis firm. There were nine institutions ranked with three stars, four of which are located in Boston. Out of the 180 banks rated, 150 received a rating of four stars or higher.
A rating of five stars gives the bank a "superior" rating, four stars means an "excellent" rating, three stars means "good," two stars means "adequate" and one means "problematic."
