The average 30-year fixed mortgage rate in Massachusetts continued its freefall last week, ending the week at 4.98 percent, compared to 5.14 percent the week prior, according to online mortgage tracker Zillow.
The average rate in Massachusetts is slightly higher than the average rate nationwide of 4.96 percent.
Rates on 30-year fixed mortgages were lowest in the states of Georgia (4.87 percent) and Texas (4.88 percent), while Illinois (5.07 percent), Maryland (5.05 percent) and New York (5.05 percent) had the highest rates, Zillow said.
