David Dirubbo, co-founder of Norwell-based Acella Construction Corp., has bought out his partner and purchased the firm. He will assume the role of president and chief executive officer.
Dirubbo co-founded the company in 2003 with his partner Robert Johnson, before recently acquiring Johnson’s stake in the firm.
Dirubbo previously served as Acella’s vice president of operations, and was responsible for overseeing the firm’s construction operation. Prior to starting Acella, he spent seven years as a project manager and a senior project manager at Lee Kennedy Company.
Acella Construction and its management team have built more than five million square feet of space in the Northeast, the company said. Recent projects include work for Bentley College and Northeastern University.
