Medford-based Century Bancorp has reported net income of $2.56 million, for the third quarter, a decrease of 10.6 percent compared to $2.86 million for the third quarter last year.

Included in income for the third quarter of 2007 is the after-tax gain of $872,000 on the sale of its Medford Square branch building, the bank said.

For the first nine months of 2008, net income totaled $6.24 million, an increase of 13.5 percent when compared to net income of $5.49 million for the same period a year ago.
