Boston-based catastrophe risk modeling firm AIR Worldwide Corp. has estimated that insured losses to onshore properties in the U.S. from Hurricane Ike are between $8 billion and $12 billion, with an expected loss of $10 billion.
In the coming days, AIR will be sending teams to the affected areas to survey the damage.
AIR estimates insured losses to off-shore assets in the Gulf of Mexico will be between $600 million and $1.5 billion.
