Kevin Carey, 48, a former Somerville lawyer, is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn for allegedly stealing more than $2 million from mortgage lenders.
Carey is charged with making false statements on mortgage applications and associated documents, as well as using the funds secured from the loans for his own purposes, rather than paying off existing loans as directed by the new lenders, according to a media advisory from the commonwealth.
Carey is charged with larceny over $250 (eight counts) and willfully making a false statement regarding financial condition or assets (seven counts). A Middlesex Grand Jury returned indictments against Carey on Aug. 21.
