Boston-based developer The Congress Group has purchased 125 Pennsylvania Ave. in Framingham for $6.4 million.
The 85,000-square-foot facility is situated on 6 acres and served as a primary manufacturing facility of paper cartons for International Paper before the manufacturing division was sold to Evergreen Packaging in early 2007. Soon after, Evergreen Packaging closed the plant and targeted the site for disposition.
The Congress Group purchased the property with plans to combine it with two previously acquired adjacent sites. Together, the three parcels total approximately 10 acres. Preliminary plans include the potential development of 300,000 square feet of office/R&D space.
Grubb & Ellis’ Anthony Biette, vice president, investment group, and Hank Amabile, senior vice president, office group, represented Evergreen Packaging, prior owner of the facility.
