David Price has joined Dorchester’s Nuestra Comunidad Development Corp. as executive director.
Prior to his new role, Price was director of real estate and general counsel for Madison Park Development Corp., also in Dorchester.
“I think that a major challenge for Nuestra and the whole community is to protect everything we as a community have accomplished over the last 20 years,” Price said. “The neighborhoods that Nuestra helped rebuild are now facing abandonment again. We are working with the city, NeighborWorks, and other local nonprofits to figure out how to buy [foreclosed] properties, fix them up and rent them out at an affordable rate.”
This fall, Nuestra breaks ground on a mixed-use project at the site of the former Kasanof Bakery on Blue Hill Avenue in Roxbury. The CDC will also develop hundreds of affordable homes and commercial space at the former MBTA bus yard on Washington Street in Roxbury, Bartlett Yard, in the near future.
